EDIBLE MOUNTAIN
A way of seeing what grows around us.
We made Edible Mountain with a local forager whose knowledge of the landscape made familiar places feel entirely new. She knew what to look for, where to find it, and how to share that knowledge with others. The film follows her through the places she knew, giving us a glimpse of the mountain through her eyes.
Since filming, she has passed away. We’re grateful to have spent this time with her and to share a record of her knowledge, curiosity, and generous spirit.

The story
Edible Mountain is a portrait of a local forager who knew the mountain through what grew there. She shared the plants she found, the places she returned to, and a way of seeing that made the familiar landscape feel full of possibility.
Since filming, she has passed away. We’re grateful to have captured a little of her knowledge and the unmistakable presence she brought to it.
Our approach
We followed her lead, letting her discoveries and observations shape the film. Close attention to the plants, her hands, and the mountain around her brings the viewer into her world—and gives her the space to tell the story in her own way.
She showed us the food growing in plain sight, and the knowledge it takes to recognize it.
